Sound Off

Just say no

I am very proud to be a member of the party of No. Someone has to say no to the spending, tax-and- spend, liberal, fanatic Democrats, who should be labeled the party of Yes. When asked if they should raise unnecessary taxes, and make stupid, idiotic suggestions to make more meddling government, they say yes. The smart party says no.

Animal control

I think it's great that the selectmen in North Andover are pushing for somewhere to walk your pooch. Now they ought to push for the animal control officer to pick up all of the stray animals around town. That would be wonderful. We could build a fence and put all of them in it.

Boat ramp

I don't know what the big deal is with the Methuen boat ramp. With the estimates that they're giving, there's nowhere near enough parking to justify the expense. That's a no-brainer.

Health care

The American people only want what Congress and their families have — affordable, quality health care for our families. I have called my congress person and asked for the exact same health care plan that she has. She danced me around. If you look at the bill, Congress has exempted themselves from being part of this bill because this bill is not that good. Congress has decided to keep their own health care plan and force us into something less. We are Congress' employers. We should have the same as they do.

Tsongas and ACORN

I was just reading the Sound Off, "ACORN funding." The caller asks us to call our congresspeople to stop funding ACORN. I just want to let the caller know that our congresswoman, Niki Tsongas, is one of the 75 who voted not to stop funding ACORN. She wants them funded. It doesn't do us any good to call Niki Tsongas. She wants ACORN funded.

Christmas parties

My child brought home a reminder from school that his class is having its "Halloween Party." That's fine, but when it's Christmas they had better call it a "Christmas Party" and not a "holiday party." I have just about had it with these hypocrites out there. Do they think we don't notice their antics? I would like to see all the teachers and those in government and elsewhere who refuse to acknowledge Christmas to give up that paid holiday and maybe donate the cash to those who are in need!

We're watching

Once again the arrogant Democrats in Washington have stuck it to the American people who pay their salaries. Do they really think we can all stay home from work for three days to read the 1,900 pages of their health care bill? Could it be that they really do not want the taxpayer to know how badly their pockets will once again be picked and how much their senior citizens will lose to this monumental fiasco? Time to let those folks know that we are all watching how they vote, and if they get it wrong, they will be looking for new jobs like so many of the rest of us.

Debtor nation

The fiscal position of the United States is a complete disaster. The United States is the biggest debtor nation in the world. Our government, whether people care to believe it or not, is doing this purposefully. Whoever thought it was a good idea to go out and spend wildly with no money to pay the bill when it comes in. The spending reminds me of people who had to have everything immediately and were faced with horrific debt that they couldn't begin to pay back. It would behoove anyone with money to find a way to invest it before it becomes worthless.
