Jobs lost
I cannot believe after voting for Obama that they still think that health insurance and the war is the most important thing facing this country. How blind can you get. The most important, now and always will be, is jobs. I grew up during the Depression and I will say this - without jobs forget the other two because without jobs there will be no money around to support the other two. I wish someone could tell me this: When they were outsourcing jobs to foreign countries didn't people realize that someday it would come back to bite us, which it has already started, and this is only the beginning.
Vaccine shortage
When Bush was president, the liberal media came down on him because the shortage of the flu vaccine. Without ever considering it had been tainted and therefore needed to be trashed. Now Obama's in the White House and not a word of blame. We knew well in advance that there was going to be an H1N1 outbreak and yet the vaccine is not available to everyone and forget about finding the seasonal flu shot. If Bush was incompetent then please tell me what Obama is?
Flip-flopped
After reading the story in the paper Friday, I see once again a Democrat, Steve Pagliuca, running for office changed his mind on an issue after two hours. I am wondering if Pagliuca will do that if he is elected to the Ted Kennedy's seat. He already stated in the article he "misunderstood" the question. Do we really want him voting on national issues? Will he say, "Oh I misunderstood the bill" when he raises taxes?
Traffic woes
OK, so first we have stop signs, then a flashing light, then a police car left as a warning in a driveway, then a request to put speed bumps in the street, then a flashing sign warning to be kind to your neighbors, now an expensive steel barricade put up by the city of Methuen. I drive through the intersection of Salem and Hampshire roads in Methuen at least twice a day and have been for 20 years. I don't see any serious danger, just a recent huge waste of Methuen taxpayers' money. Should I go another way? Do we have an ex-president secretly living in our town? We should really be told.
Great country
This is in response to "What a country." I'd like to say love it or leave it, but there's too many things that need changing. One thing that shouldn't is the firefighters sleeping next to the firetruck. I hope you never have a fire because I'll be praying they don't show up. The other thing is you shouldn't be fired for something you haven't been convicted of especially something that should be decriminalized, but being in another city in a Lawrence truck instead of Lawrence is a problem. People can read what they want, believe what they want, think and say what they want. I guess you're right. It is a great country.
Need professionalism
Once again the selectmen of North Andover put on a bad show of their televised meeting. Between the joking and the laughing over real issues residents have and the lack of knowledge they have on issues they are there to discuss that night it is a wonder they get elected. Some research before the meeting and a little more professionalism is called for.
ACORN
I wonder how many people realize that the government's de-funding of ACORN was only temporary? I learned that they were set to resume receiving government funding beginning after midnight on Oct. 31. How's that for a taxpayer Halloween trick or treat! No wonder the president never had to publicly weigh-in on the issue — he just had to wait it out. We the public need to continue to keep the pressure our legislature to keep government money out of this organization's hands.
