To the editor:
Louisiana's Sen. Mary L. Landrieu lost an opportunity to be a true American heroine. Instead she accepted a huge bribe to vote for cloture of the Senate health care reform bill, which now moves into the Senate for debate.
In the bill, it appears that: abortion is covered; there is a "government option"; language is ambiguous on insuring illegal immigrants (which does not matter since Obama plans to make them citizens anyway); and so-called "death panels" are included.
Obama said his plan would not contain these policies, He also said that it would be deficit neutral, and while it is being played up that way, it is a lie. In the long term it definitely is not. He is, therefore, honor-bound to veto such a bill when it gets to his desk. Of course he will set aside honor, and sign it into law.
Keep that opportunity from happening. Write or call your senators and tell them to vote "No" on health care reform, cynically titled the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." What a joke that is!
