Too early
I work nights. The other day, on my way to work, I noticed three houses with their Christmas trees already up. Radio stations are also playing Christmas music. It's only the middle of November. I love Christmas, but I always considered Christmas to be a December holiday, not a November one. What's going on here?
The best
To the people who loved Bea's Sandwich Shop: Why didn't they relocate? They were the best around.
Not racial
Get your facts straight. This is a rebuttal to "Too sensitive:" The black reference to Wal-Mart is because people got killed last year. Do you remember that? It has nothing to do with race. You always jump on the racial bandwagon here, and it has nothing to do with that. It is strictly because people got hurt last year.
Equal rights
I want to applaud the teen who wrote the letter to the editor about gay marriage. It is about equal rights for all and showing kindness and compassion to all. I would be very proud for this person. She has learned her lesson well.
Get over it
I am a mailman and I would like to respond to the postal worker who complained about GPS in trucks. It's part of the job. Get over it. If you or anyone else complains about morale being low because of it, then you must be realizing that you can't continue to do what you're not supposed to be doing in the first place.
Out of context
I love the power of the written word, unpublished though it be. To put it simply, I have called in opinions at least a dozen times. I have never been published or appeared in your Sound Off column. But sure enough, within a day or two, my words are published out of context in an op-ed piece. Thank you. I'm glad you have your finger on the pulse of your readers. Keep it up.
Fix the lights
The flashing lights in front of the Pleasant Valley School have been out since the beginning of the year. How long will it take the town and the School Department to have these lights fixed or are they going to wait for a child to get hit by a car?
In cahoots
Of course the mayor of the City of Lawrence favors buying out Laboy's contract. The two of them have been in cahoots for years. It's certainly going to benefit the mayor if the city buys out his contract. The mayor could care less. He's on his way out so he's going to take care of his friend.
Safety issue
This is for the matter of better handling of doughnuts. I work at a Dunkin' Donuts and I am safety certified. The reason we grab doughnuts with a wax tissue when we put them in the bags is because we are not allowed to touch your food. Also, if you haven't noticed, we do not leave the wax tissue in the bags. We remove it and throw it in the trash. If you're so worried about H1N1, then maybe you shouldn't be eating out at public restaurants.
Praise for hospitals
I am currently being treated for cancer at the Parkland Hospital and Elliot Hospital in Manchester, N.H. I have nothing but praise for the tender care and compassion from everyone: doctors, nurses, everybody. When I'm counting my blessings next Thursday, I'll remember all of my caretakers. God bless you all.
