Soliciting
I live on Prospect Hill in Lawrence and the number of people knocking at my door on a weekly basis is really disturbing. They're either trying to sell me a product that I really don't think exists, do a service for me that I don't need, or ask me a question so that they can get into my house. All homeowners: Be aware when you see these people knocking at your doors.
Changes
This is for all the people who voted for President Obama: You wanted changes and I guess you're really going to get them, aren't you? Very bad call on everything. Very bad. Sorry!
Pothole
The pothole at Lawrence and Bunkerhill streets in Lawrence is a couple of inches deep. How many DPW trucks have passed that pothole? Why hasn't it been filled?
Nice job
I just went over the new overpass on Route 28, crossing Route 213, and it is beautiful, but I have a question: Can anyone tell me how that got done so fast and it took seven years to do a bridge in Haverhill? What the heck? I'm glad to see it's done and it looks great.
Sad day
For the people who thought that the health care bill is going to be OK and it's just what they're looking for: What do you think now of the rationing of breast cancer screening? It's a sad day for this country.
Hire local
I'm wondering about the purchasing agent from North Andover. Isn't there anybody from North Andover that would love to have that job rather than having someone come from Derry, N.H.?
Cable monopoly
Something needs to be done about Comcast having the monopoly in this area. Their new converter boxes, with monthly fees for each box, seem to me to be a rip-off. It's just a way for them to make more money. They're taking away channels and increasing their profits. It just seems completely unfair.
Changing meaning
At one time in our country the definition of the word "voter" was a white, land-owning male. That changed, unfortunately for Republicans. Well, look at the word "marriage." Someday we'll change the definition of that word, too, and there's nothing that right-wingers can do about it.
Early detection
Does anyone think it's bizarre that after years of the American Cancer Society saying that we need early detection and to go for mammograms and pap smears, now that we're in the middle of the change to socialism, all of a sudden you don't need to get any of these tests done until you're in your mid-30s or early 40s, even though they've always said have it done when you're younger? I find it extremely humorous that they're even starting to go the way of Obama. It's ridiculous. It's unbelievable how many people will probably die because of this change of heart.
Christmas parade
The Haverhill Christmas parade was absolutely beautiful! I would like to thank all the people and children that gave their time and talents. Merry Christmas to you all!
Share the season
To all those insisting on the greeting "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays": "Merry Christmas" from one Christian to another is perfectly fine. But we Christians' holiday is only one day in the month of December. This does not give us claim to the entire season only for ourselves. How would you like a store clerk to greet you with "Happy Hanukkah"? Unless you have written "Christian" across your forehead, how is one to know what religion you practice? I suggest you all get in the Christmas spirit and share the season with all denominations.
