Pricey mail
The postal service charged me $1.05 to send a card to my wife five miles across town. It only cost us 98 cents to send a Christmas card to England. And the postal service wonders why it is losing business? Next time, I will just hand the card to my wife.
Dedicated teachers
Haverhill teachers were not asking for paid compensation for the for the snow day on December 9, 2009. School was cancelled too late, so teachers drove under difficult driving conditions. Dr. Buchanan is working on an amicable resolution to assist Haverhill teachers for their professionalism and dedication for reporting to their buildings.
A fraud
Every day more evidence is proving what most of us have known for a long time, that Al Gore is a fraud. He will not debate anyone on global warming, he was sitting vice president for eight years of peace and prosperity and yet could not even win his state in the 2000 election against an idiot named W. How much of a buffoon is Al Gore?
Shell game
The senate used a shell game so they would not have to vote for paying the same price as other countries pay for imported drugs. Remember this when you vote in the next election cycle. The Dorgan Amendment would have reduced seniors' medicine prices.
Sad season
Climate change/global warming or whatever they're calling it these days has a strong following. The facts are inconclusive and yet many believe it is truth including the government and the Pope. The Bible/Word of God has been tested and held true for thousands of years. Prophesies have come to pass, there are plenty of facts and yet even more people refuse to believe it is the infallible Word of God. Even at this Holy season, people don't recognize Christmas for what it is, but merely say "Happy Holidays." Very very sad.
Unaffordable
What is the matter with those "duly-elected representatives" in Washington? What part of the word "no" do they not understand? Is it too big a word for them? Perhaps the words, "Get ready to find a new job," will help them to understand that we cannot afford and do not want this grandiose expansion of socialism that they call health care reform!
Stop complaining
The unemployment rate does not include independent contractors, the "self employed" people who have been out of work and do not qualify for any assistance! You folks waiting for delayed checks make me laugh. I have been without real work within my field for over one year and I receive nothing from the state. I have no other choice but to do anything I can to make ends meet and I have done this for over a year — everything from mowing lawns to substitute teaching. I apply for jobs three to four times a week. I know that this will pass and I will be a stronger person as a result of my employment struggle. I'm in my late 30s with a family. Please stop complaining about your check being delayed! Try getting no checks! The government needs to limit unemployment to eight weeks. Take it from me, if you need money badly enough, you will find work or create a job for yourself. Stop sitting at home waiting for your handout!
The new enemy
When Walt Kelly's famous "Pogo" commented, "We have met the enemy and he is us," it was right for the time. Now it needs to be rewritten for this decade. I believe it should now read, "We have seen the enemy and its name is Congress."
