To the editor:
This week's question: What was the biggest news story of 2009?
The paper wrote good information about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was surprised President Barack Obama decided to send 30,000 soldiers to Afghanistan. My question is: Why should American soldiers be in these countries and how long should they stay there? Leaders should find different ways to solve their problems.
I witnessed World War II and know what the word "war" means.
Wars kill a lot of people for nothing. It is a very high price.
No one country wins wars. Not in one country is life better after the war.
We can never return the killed children, elderly and soldiers.
It is so bad that America is in wars now.
The American people should make the decision, not only the president, about sending more troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The right decision is to bring our troops home so they can celebrate the new 2010 year with their families and friends.
Happy New Year with best wishes to all of you.
