To the editor:
The Eagle-Tribune's editors so eloquently revealed the folly of our government's measures to protect us from those bent to destroy us in Sunday's editorial "Airline security must include profiling" that it brought to me renewed reasons to be fearful when I fly.
Of course my friends can joke with me that if my number is up it's up. But, with the prospect of flying to London this winter, I can't help having some discomfort in knowing that my number might be up some day because of idiots running our government. My number should be up because of fate, not people who care less to do their jobs correctly. Best example: Janet Napolitano. Can anyone explain why she was not fired on Dec. 26?
Thank you, Eagle-Tribune editors, for reminding us. There are elderly people being strip-searched, people who will have to accurately time their bowel movements on flights when, with one hour remaining, they have to sit still, and mothers who will have to let their young children feel cold because their blankets will be torn away from them in the last hour of flight. We will soon have machines that will reveal the human form in all its glory and if you have a problem getting to the airport early — 3-6 hours before your flight — God help you for being late.
Our government's "experts" have done nothing to alleviate the condition of those threatened and impose hardship on those doing the threatening.
