To the editor:

If the Obama administration is really compassionate about creating jobs in this country, they should stop the imports from China and make the goods here in this country.

The so-called "giants of industry" are manufacturing their goods in China for the sole purpose of cheap labor. Why are they contributing to keeping the labor force down in China, knowing that Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation long ago?

We need those jobs here. Have them become citizens of China and see if they like that.

Editorial: Obama's contraception mandate tramples religious freedom

President Obama's idea of a compromise with religious organizations opposed to a contraceptive mandate is that they exchange their principles for a lie.
It's the kind of thinking one should expect from our ruling liberal elite, some of whom say they believe that the Constitution that guarantees our freedoms is rather old and tired.

It is generally called hypocrisy, but former speaker of the House and current GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has a much more entertaining description: Pious baloney.

Re-electing the neighborhood bully
To the editor:
Everybody remembers the scene in "Back to the Future" where Biff the bully is picking on the hapless George McFly in the school hallway, when Marty intervenes and stands up to him. Marty is just about to get a beating when the principal happens upon the scene, and Biff is cowed (for the moment) into submission. But the bully leaves an ominous threat of future violence hanging in the air as the scene ends.
