To the editor:
Sitting here in my wheeze and fever from some flu (had my regular flu shot so I suspect it is H1N1) I've had the time and inclination to do a little on-line research into the possible duration as well as to how to prevent spreading my misery.
It might be a good service to the community for The Eagle-Tribune to provide a little info.
The CDC.gov site states that people "shed" influenza virus for 24 hours after the fever (usually 2-4 days) breaks. During the fever they "shed" at a much greater rate.
Oh, how I wish people would stay home while they "shed." Apparently, so does the CDC.
There is much more useful information for the general public who should be more aware of how to take care of themselves, as well as prevention. In the fog of my ibuprofen-soaked brain, I do not have the patience to condense it. But, please, tell your readership to stay home if they're "shedding" and spare the rest of us from going down again — you can't get this again, can you?
