Basket missing

Upon receiving a phone call from my distraught neighbor, I quickly realized the anger in his voice was due to an unforgiveable act of violence. He and his wife had purchased a beautiful Christmas basket for his daughter's grave site at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Haverhill. Two days later it was stolen. This not only happens on holidays, but also during the entire year. What kind of a person would commit such a disgusting act? It is unforgiveable. Some day he or she will stand accountable.

No X for Christ

I am deeply disappointed to see people, especially businesspeople, using an "X" to replace Christ. It's a disgrace and shows no respect. I'm 86 years old and I can't remember ever using the substitute. I've been boycotting those that continue to use it.

No defibrillator

Regarding the hockey player who died: Why is it that the City of Haverhill doesn't have an automated external defibrillator at the city owned skating rink? This may not have helped to save this boy, but as a mother, I can say that no parent would want to hear anything more than, "We tried everything." At least if there was an AED machine there, people could have used it and tried rather than not having an option as there wasn't one there. They are in all public places, train stations, airports, and bus terminals. Why not have an AED machine in a place where kids are playing sports?

Run and hide

I see President Obama has a new strategy for keeping America safe from terrorism. If we get threatened by terrorists, then we're going to close our embassies and run away and hide. Or we could bring them to court in New York City and sue them for hurting our feelings.

Bomb them

Al-Qaeda is a murderous group of people who plan on killing us in our beds given the chance. We need to find their training camps and make one large crater for miles around and not miss any of these rats.

Sorry for Methuen

I've been a resident of Lawrence for 45 years and I always envied Methuen politics, but this is the first time that I feel sorry for Methuen, after watching their city councilors on TV and Mayor Manzi. To the Methuen residents: I feel sorry you guys because you're in a really bad situation. These councilmen are all friends of a friend. Methuen, get rid of at least six of your councilors — they're puppets.

New beginning

Let Jan. 19 be a new beginning for the Republican Party. Vote in Scott Brown as senator. He will be a trusted and effective leader.

Obama's record

This is in regards to the things Obama is doing. First of all, I made a mistake voting for him. Now he doesn't want to prosecute the Muslim who tried to blow up the airline. Plus he's giving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac a blank check. When is this going to stop? It's becoming ridiculous. I think many people feel the same way. He has to turn himself around and start doing things for the American people rather than the other part of the world. He should do some of the things he said he was going to do instead of failing to do any of the things he said he was going to do.

Awesome

A big high-five and an atta-boy to the Lawrence Police Department. The front page picture with them donating the computer equipment was awesome. Good job!
