Sound Off

Culture of corruption

The Washington Post recently reported the final GM bailout cost will be between $10 billion and $20 billion. GM employs 120,000 people. Simple math puts the cost to the American tax payer between $83,000 and $166,000 per job. But Obama and the Democrats wanted to keep those union dues flowing into the pockets of Democratic politicians so they had to save GM. Thank you unions for four more years of graft and political corruption.

D.C. thieves

This fiscal crisis in Washington has been caused and created by the president and Congress. They have no one else to blame but themselves. So why do I hear only about the cuts in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, but never, ever are there going to be cuts to their salaries and inflated staffs? Keep your hands out of my pockets, Mr. Senator and Representative! I’ve had enough of your thievery! You made this mess and you can now fix it!

How dare they!

How dare the Senate take a vacation now when faced with the fiscal cliff? How dare the House take a vacation and say they will probably not be back until after the New Year when faced with the fiscal cliff? Neither the House nor the Senate, Republicans nor Democrats are doing the job they were hired to do. They work for the people and are supposed to do the people’s business. While they live high off the American taxpayer (free medical care, generous pensions, plenty of vacations), they neglect their duty and have abdicated their responsibilities by both sides remaining pigheaded instead of working together for the people.

Just not fair

As far back as I can remember, which is many decades ago, they always say, we all musts sacrifice when the country is in trouble financially. Now let us get this straight. There is and always has been one segment of the population that never has to sacrifice and that is the 1 percent that has it all. When the middle class sacrifices, they lose a part of their standard of living. If the wealthy pays, say, 25 percent tax, and it goes to 50 percent, their standard of living has not been affected. Therefore, they have not — repeat, have not — sacrificed, and that is not fair.
