Sound Off

Gun control

Right-wing resistance to meaningful gun control is driven, in part, by a false notion that America’s Founders adopted the Second Amendment because they wanted an armed population that could battle the U.S. government. The opposite is the truth, but many Americans seem to have embraced this absurd, anti-historical narrative. The reality was that the Framers wrote the Constitution and added the Second Amendment with the goal of creating a strong central government with a citizens-based military force capable of putting down insurrections, not to enable or encourage uprisings. The key Framers, after all, were mostly men of means with a huge stake in an orderly society, the likes of George Washington and James Madison.

Chavez dead

I am so glad that the people of Venezuela gave free oil to Joe Kennedy’s Citizens Energy. Now, Chavez is dead. Take care of your own, Mr. Kennedy. It’s all politics.

Chicken Little

In Sound Off, there have been a number of suggestions on what to cut because of the sequester. Be assured that the Commander-in-Chief “Chicken Little” Obama won’t take your advice. He will do everything in his power to make sure the sequester hurts as many as possible. He will, of course, blame George W. Bush and the Republicans. After all John Kerry has told the world you are stupid.

A parable

Some time ago I heard this parable that perfectly describes Obama and the Democrats’ liberal agenda: Satan one day asked three new devils: “How are you going to get for me more souls?” The first devil answered: “I will promise them wealth and fame.” The second devil said: “I will promise them power.” Then Satan asked the third devil and this devil responded: “I will tell them there is no Devil.” If you understand this parable you understand why, what was immoral a generation ago is acceptable today.
