Sound Off

No choir boys

So they dropped Caesars from the list to build a casino. What the heck did they expect they are from Sin City? Of course they are not dealing with choir boys. With the way the economy is I don’t know why they won’t build right now. It is said when the economy is bad people gamble more. Unbelievable.

Thank you to the Methuen Elderly Housing Authority. I lost everything in a fire on Sept. 20. Mr. Martin and the maintenance staff have been wonderful to make this tragedy a memory. The community should be proud there are so many people with compassion. Thank you.

It’s that time of year again — Halloween. Soon we will be told what day and time we are “allowed” to celebrate this holiday. When I was a kid, Halloween was celebrated on the same day every year and it lasted as long as we wanted it to last. Homeowners would leave their lights on if they were still giving out candy and shut them off when they were finished. I remember trick or treating until 10 or 11 p.m. some years. Now we are limited to a couple of hours while the sun is still out, and parents are still trying to get home from work. Leave Halloween alone and let us celebrate it when we want to. We don’t need the government telling us what to do.
