Letter: Thanks for making festival a success

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

What a wonderful day and a great event we hosted on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Methuen Sons of Italy would like to thank all who had a hand at making our first Methuen Italian Festival a great success.

I am proud of Phil DeCologero and his committee for putting together a fun-filled, family-oriented event. The Methuen Sons of Italy is happy to be a part of the Methuen community and to organize events for our members, friends, and other organizations.

Founded in 1919 in Lawrence, our Sons of Italy Lodge has built a new home in Methuen at 459 Merrimack St. We look forward to next year’s festival and other events for the benefit of the community and other non-profit organizations.

We are grateful to Monsignor Fay for allowing us to host our event at St. Lucy. We appreciate the support of both the St. Lucy & St. Monica parishes and we are happy to donate most of the $5,000 the event generated to them.

Our many sponsors ensured our financial success. Special thanks to our two platinum sponsors: Salem Co-operative Bank and Commonwealth Motors. But it was the hundreds of families who enjoyed a number of activities, good food, arts and crafts, best meatball contest, and live music that made our festival truly a success.

Thanks to all. Grazie a tutti.
