Letter: Abortion, contraception do not belong in health-care law

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

The Health and Human Services mandate for taxpayer-funded abortions and contraception in all health insurance plans is a travesty and an abomination. Planned Parenthood is profiting in a big way from this mandate.

Contraception and abortion are not health care. They are choices.

Why weren’t child and adult diabetic medications paid for instead? Why wasn’t high blood pressure medication or cholesterol lowering medication paid for instead? Why wasn’t medication for multiple sclerosis paid for instead? What about cancer treatments?

The answer to these questions is because Planned Parenthood invested a large sum of money, $12 million-plus, into President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. Now President Obama is paying them back with our taxes and insurance premiums, in the form of the Health and Human Services mandate.

Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, multiple sclerosis, cancer, etc., are all involuntarily contracted diseases. Sexual pleasure is a purely voluntary act. The HHS mandate promotes sexual promiscuity and sexually transmitted diseases and sends the wrong message to our young people.

Wake up, America! We are on the wrong path. We have a government making the taxpayer pay for a totally voluntary activity, while real health issues are ignored.

Please contact your representatives and senators if you agree and tell them, you don’t want to pay for abortion and contraception through your health care insurance.
