May 23, 2008 12:01 am METHUEN — A woman was charged with shoplifting after store security officers at Wal-Mart watched her open a box containing a cordless telephone and put the phone in her purse. Officer Michael Farelli was sent to the store at 70 Pleasant Valley St., at 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, where the security officers told him they had seen two women in the aisle and one of them was attempting to open the box but could not. The other woman took the box from the first woman, opened it, removed the cordless telephone valued at $78.62 from the box and concealed it in her purse, police said. The two women were detained as they attempted to leave the store. Yuddy Herrera, 24, of 22 Weare St., Lawrence, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Herrera and the other woman, who was not arrested, were declared trespassers by store officials and ordered not to return.
