Haverhill police search for man wanted in seven armed robberies

HAVERHILL — Police said they are searching for a man who used a gun to rob six convenience stores in the city in the last two weeks.

They said it is the same man Amesbury police are searching for in connection with an armed robbery of the Dunkin' Donuts on Route 110 in Amesbury on Sunday night. The two departments are working together to find the man, said Haverhill Detective Daniel McDonald.

Amesbury police Lt. Gary Ingham said the suspect is in his early to mid-20s. He said the man entered the Dunkin' Donuts, approached the counter and whispered to a worker, "Give me all the money," while showing a black handgun.

The man walked out of the store with an undetermined amount of money, Ingham said.

Two clerks at the store gave a description of a white male, about 6 feet tall, wearing a black-and-white hoodie, sunglasses and baggy blue jeans. He was alone.

McDonald said the capture of the man is the Haverhill department's top priority and that police are asking for the public's help in finding him. He said that since June 28, the man has been targeting convenience stores, including a Cumberland Farms at Westgate Plaza next to Interstate 495.

"This is a high-priority item for us," McDonald said. "We expect he'll strike again."

Haverhill police have reviewed security tapes from some of the businesses that were robbed and have provided The Eagle-Tribune with a photograph they believe to be the suspect they are looking for.

Police said an award will be offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
