Les Miz comes to maine

Autumn brings the celebrated musical, "Les Miserables," to the Ogunquit Playhouse stage through Oct. 12, with a once-in-a-lifetime, all-star cast. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, the show details the trials of France's lower class and exemplifying the triumph of human spirit. This production stars Andrea Mcardle, who will reprise her Broadway role, Fantine, in the show. Seniors show off

Those over 50 years old with a special talent are invited to audition for Northern Essex Community College Life Long Learning's second annual talent show on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Technology Center on the Haverhill campus. There is a $1 admission fee. Last year, 19 contestants participated for first, second, and third place. A panel of three judges will vote on the individual acts. Auditions are necessary to participate in the program. For an appointment to audition, call Charlene Boucher, coordinator of NECC's Life Long Learning Program, at 978-556-3825. Talents may include singing, writing and reciting poetry, comedy, dancing, or juggling.

Woody allen romance comes to 'port

Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem star in Woody Allen's latest, "Vicki Cristina Barcelona." Set in Spain, the film explores the complicated romantic relations between three people. The film comes to The Screening Room in Newburyport, playing Friday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 and 8:45 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 20, at 4:15, 6:30 and 8:45 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 21, at 5:15 and 7:30 p.m.; and Monday through Thursday, Sept. 22 to 25, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $7, or $4.60 for seniors and children. MV Phil returnS to rogers

Merrimack College's Rogers Center for the Arts plays host to the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra for its ninth annual "Pops Concert" today at 2:30 p.m. All tickets are $18 at the door. Women jazzed for castle

Haverhill's Winnekenni Castle hosts its ninth annual Ladies in Jazz Concert, Sunday, Sept. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. This free concert features an ensemble of female jazz musicians playing together for the first time. The program focuses on jazz standards and originals. The castle is located at 347 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill.
