ALBANY, N.Y. — Lowell could not hold onto a three-goal lead as the Albany River Rats overcame two deficits to beat the Devils 5-4 in overtime at the Times Union Center yesterday.
The Devils led 3-0 just 11 minutes, 10 seconds into the game.
Stephen Gionta scored the first goal only 11 seconds into the first period.
Matt Corrente and Michael Swift each added first period goals on the power play. Matt Taormina scored the other goal for the Devils in the third period.
Albany's Jamie McBain netted the game winner on a power play early in OT. Mike McKenna made 30 saves.
The Devils play Providence at 7 p.m. today at the Tsongas Arena.
Monarchs lose in shootout
Worcester beat Manchester 2-1 in a nine-round shootout at the DCU Center.
David Kolomatis scored Manchester's only goal. It was his first of the season and came on the power play.
Meanwhile, Manchester goalie Jonathan Bernier made 46 saves.
