The Ninety Nine Restaurant in Andover is holding a two-week, in-restaurant silent auction through April 29 to raise money for the Lawrence Boys & Girls Club and the Andover public school system. The restaurant is auctioning off plaques that have decorated the restaurants walls and will be replaced as a part of the restaurant's refreshing.
"We are passionate about our relationship with the Boys & Girls Club and place a high value on education, so we wanted to involve both groups with the launch of our new look," said John Houser, general managing partner of the Andover Ninety Nine. "We are looking forward to supporting such wonderful organizations and, with the help of our guests and team members, believe this will be a successful auction."
The new Ninety Nine Restaurant will feature brightly-colored upholstered booths and new tables, bar stools, carpeting in the dining room, new china and flatware, more modern lighting and new, flat-screen televisions.

The Verizon Foundation recently donated $25,000 to Northern Essex Community College to develop Web a companion or Web-enhanced components for its developmental courses, including English as a Second Language and its literacy programs, which are offered in partnership with community agencies in Amesbury and Lawrence.
There are more than 3,000 students enrolled in these programs: 2,600 in developmental courses and 470 in literacy programs. Offered at the college's Haverhill and Lawrence campuses, the developmental courses are designed to help students with a high school diploma or a GED build their skills in areas such as writing, reading, and math in preparation for college level work. English language courses for students who are not native speakers are included in developmental studies.
Literacy courses are designed for adults who lack high school level skills and are preparing for a GED/high school diploma before entering college. The college offers these courses at adult learning centers in Amesbury and Lawrence. Web-companion or Web-enhanced courses are offered in a traditional classroom but use Web resources as a teaching tool.
