Citing concerns about salmonella, Dunkin' Donuts temporarily suspends serving hot chocolate
If you're headed to Dunkin' Donuts to grab a hot chocolate or a Dunkaccino, you may be sorely disappointed.
The coffee chain is "voluntarily withdrawing all hot chocolate and Dunkaccino beverages as we have been made aware by our supplier that some of the equipment used at their facility to produce one of the ingredients in these beverages was contaminated with Salmonella," said Andrew Mastrangelo, manager, Public Relations, for the Canton, Mass.-based company.
The company making the product is Plainville Milk Products Cooperative of Plainville, Minn.
"We have been assured by our supplier that no (other) Dunkin' Donuts products have been affected. However, we have made the decision to temporarily withdraw the beverages from our stores to ensure the safety of our customers.
"We expect to have all the products back in stores later this week, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our customers."
