WINDHAM, N.H. — Michael D. Broderick of Windham, N.H., has been elected by the Massachusetts Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division Nominating Committee as chair of the association's Young Lawyers Division, for the 2008-09 year. Broderick is assistant regional counsel for the Department of Children and Families, where he represents the department in all aspects of litigation before the juvenile courts. The MBA's Young Lawyers Division is designed for attorneys in practice for 10 years or less.

Broderick has been an active member of the MBA's Young Lawyers Division, serving as the Essex County Regional Director since 2006, and as chair of the nominating committee from September 2006 until April 2007. Before working for the Department of Children and Families, Broderick was a litigation attorney for DeBruyckere, Petrillo & Fulton PLLC in Dracut.



ANDOVER — Butler Bancorp, MHC has merged its two bank subsidiaries, Marlborough Co-Operative Bank and Butler Bank, culminating a process that began with a merger of the banks' respective holding companies nearly two years ago.

The merger of the two banks is expected to be finalized after receipt of all required regulatory approvals. Following the structure of the Mutual Holding Company, John H. Pearson Jr. will serve as chairman and Janet M. Bruno as president and chief executive officer. The offices of the combined bank will operate under the same names currently used.

Butler Bank, a cooperative bank founded in 1901, has three locations in Massachusetts, including its most recent location in Andover.

Marlborough Co-Operative Bank, founded in 1890, has its main office at 175 Main St., Marlborough, and a branch office at Post Road Plaza, Boston Post Road.



NORTH ANDOVER — In Control Advanced Driver Training hosted an open house to celebrate the grand opening of its new, permanent site facility located at 1600 Osgood St., at the former Lucent Technology plant.

The many residents, public safety officials, and town government officials who attended had the opportunity to speak with driving instructors and also experience training demonstrations. The new permanent facility in North Andover will make it easier for new or inexperienced drivers from this area to have access to this critical crash prevention training and be eligible for auto insurance discounts up to 10 percent.



ANDOVER — Ellenmarie Joyce, certified reflexologist, recently joined FirstHealth of Andover, a medical clinic in Andover.

Joyce has been a nurse for more than 12 years, practicing in a variety of clinical settings in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts area. She received her reflexology certification at the New England Institute of Reflexology and Universal Studies in Onset.

In addition, she is an infant massage therapist, Reiki Usi/Karuna Master/Teacher, and a certified hypnotist.



NORTH ANDOVER — Ryan M. Schruender is the newest member of the Carlson GMAC Real Estate sales team. He is the son of Senior Broker George H. Schruender Jr and is the third generation to work in the real estate business. His grandfather opened the real estate office in 1953 and his father, George, has been helping buyers and sellers in the Merrimack Valley for over 30 years.

Carlson GMAC Real Estate has been serving the Merrimack Valley for more than 45 years.



SALEM, N.H. — Synchronized Manufacturing Technologies, an EMS provider, has appointed Jolene Schofield program manager and Steve Cahalane operations manager.

Schofield's 20 years of experience, including her tenure with Sanmina-SCI Corporation, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their existing and growing customer base.

Cahalane's expertise in electronics manufacturing as an engineer, materials and operations manager, which includes previous experience with Wang and Celestica, will assist Synchronized Manufacturing Technologies with structuring and designing the organization to accommodate continued growth.


