February 22, 2009 12:27 am Gerard and Katherine Bourdon of Haverhill are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Beth Bourdon, to Douglas Branch Koen, son of Billy and Deanne Koen of Austin, Texas.. Sarah and Doug met nearly seven years ago and were engaged last April 29, 2008 during a romantic and adventurous trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Sarah is a graduate of Haverhill High School and a summa cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Commonwealth College at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she studied Political Science. She subsequently earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She currently resides in San Francisco where she is the Communications Program Manager for AARP California. Doug is a graduate of West Lake High School in Austin and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science. He currently resides in San Francisco where he is the Principal Software Architect for Silicon Valley start-up Permuto, Inc. An April wedding is planned at one of the couple's favorite spots in Indian Wells, Calif. Sarah and Doug plan to celebrate with a relaxing and thrill-seeking honeymoon in Thailand.
