New Hampshire has the nation's lowest teen pregnancy rate, according to a new federal report released Wednesday.

New Hampshire's rate of 19 per 1,000 in 2006 is about half of the national birth rate of 42 per 1,000, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Massachusetts had the third lowest rate at 21 per 1,000.

Mississippi now has the nation's highest teen pregnancy rate with about 68 births for every 1,000 women ages 15 through 19 in 2006.
