Free open meditation offers peace of mind

ANDOVER — Group meditation is offered Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at UnionStudio Yoga, 305 North Main St., Tactician Building.

This weekly hour of group meditation provides the time and place to practice breathing awareness and stillness. No instruction is provided, but an opportunity to share is a part of the practice.

Meditation promotes peace of mind, calmness and a sense of well-being. It provides participants with personal, philosophical and spiritual insights.

Yoga helps families dealing with cancer

NORTH ANDOVER — Restorative yoga for families affected by cancer will be offered Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at North Parish Church Center for Spiritual Renewal, Old Center Hall, 190 Academy Road. Includes supported gentle yoga practice for individuals and their families. For children 10 years and older. Free. Bring two pillows and two blankets per family member. Dyslexia seminar for children, adults

AMESBURY — A free dyslexia seminar will be held Friday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New England Dyslexia Solutions, Boston North Technology Park, 110 Haverhill Road. Open to children and adults who have difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, decoding, handwriting, math or attention deficits. Registration is required.

Weight management class offers support

METHUEN — A free information class will be presented on the Transitions Lifestyle Weight Management System Thursday, Dec. 11, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the office of Dr. Deborah Fudge, 230 B Pleasant St. The comprehensive low glycemic index program incorporates education, the right food choices, targets body fat, exercise, proper supplementation and group support. The 12-week program will begin in mid-January.
