Methuen man charged in rum bottle attack

METHUEN - A Cypress Avenue man faces assault charges in connection with an attack on a fellow resident early yesterday morning.

Police said Satish W. Benjamin, 20, of 8 Cypress Ave., returned home drunk about 6:20 a.m. and struck the victim in the face with a rum bottle. The victim, Julio Sanitiago of the same address, reported to police that Benjamin also punched him in the face.

Benjamin was charged with assault and battery, and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
