Police to charge 12 in golf-ball incident

NEWBURYPORT - Hampered by a lack of cooperation from students, Newburyport police today will charge 12 Amesbury teens from the estimated 80 to 90 spectators involved in hurling golf balls, fruit, hats, trash and a squid at players and spectators at a high school hockey game at Graf Rink last month.

Through investigation, tips and dozens of interviews, police believe a small group of Amesbury High School students brought four dozen golf balls to the Jan. 13 game against rival Newburyport and systematically handed them out with the preconceived intention of throwing them toward the ice.Read this article in full with a
