PLAISTOW — For the second time in two weeks, the same bank was robbed by the same person yesterday afternoon.
A man walked into Sovereign Bank on Plaistow Road and demanded money from the tellers, but fled empty-handed, according to police.
A light-skinned man walked into the bank at 4:42 p.m. and threatened employees, saying he had a weapon and wanted cash, police said. When the employees refused to hand over the money, police said the suspect fled the bank and got into a black Chevrolet Avalanche with New Hampshire license plates.
Police said employees verified it was the same man who robbed the bank Feb. 12. They said he was also wearing the same clothing — a black hooded ski jacket with gray on the back side, a baseball hat and a winter cap.
Police said the suspect is white or light-skinned male and in his 20s. They estimate he is between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs 150 to 180 pounds.
Anyone who witnessed either crime or believe they know the suspect's identity is asked to call the Plaistow Police Department at 382-1200.
