Lawrence police probe GPS, tire thefts

LAWRENCE — Thieves stole four tires and rims from one car, and a GPS device from another in separate incidents reported to police Tuesday.

Officer Todd Allard was sent to 264 Ames St., at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday where he spoke to the owner of a 1996 Acura. The owner told Allard she found her car up on cement blocks with all four tires and rims, valued at $500, missing.

Later that morning, a resident of 486 Andover St. reported his work vehicle — a Volkswagen owned by Best Buy — had been broken into while parked at his address and a Garmin Street Pilot GPS 2720 stolen, police said. The car window was broken.

Copper pipes stolen from Lawrence home

LAWRENCE — Thieves stole copper pipes from the basement of a three-decker on Pleasant Street, police said.

Officers were sent to 28-30 Pleasant St. about 3 p.m. for a reported house break.

They met the owner of the house, a Methuen man, who told them between Friday and Wednesday someone broke into the basement and stole the pipes that were part of the heating and water systems.

Tenants on the second and third floors of the building told police they did not see or hear anything unusual during the past few days.

One of the tenants told police he did see the basement door ajar a few days earlier but assumed it was the landlord doing repairs and thought nothing of it.

Parking complaint: Main Street, officer puts boot on vehicle, owner owes $300 for eight tickets, 1:44 p.m. Tuesday.

Vandalism: Ballardvale Road, caller reports finding what appears to be two BB holes in his front window, 7:06 p.m. Tuesday.

Alarm: Salem Street, report of an alarm sounding, officer reports the building appears to be secure, 8:58 a.m. Wednesday.

Theft: Spring Valley Drive, rental car reported stolen, owner called back to say it had been towed, 2:58 p.m. Wednesday.

Arrest: Christopher Williams, 31, 142 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, possession of heroin, Lawrence and Park streets, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Arrest: Marcos Santos, 42, 100 Bailey St., violation of a court order, threatening to commit a crime, 90 Lowell St., 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
