New Senate president makes Merrimack Valley appointment

BOSTON - Sen. Therese Murray, a Plymouth Democrat, yesterday became the first female state Senate president, succeeding Robert Travaglini.

One of her first acts was to appoint Sen. Steve Panagiotakos, D-Lowell, as her temporary replacement atop the Ways and Means Committee.Read this article in full with a
