May 03, 2008 12:01 am NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack College has re-established its mission and ministry position and hired the Rev. Raymond F. Dlugos to fill the post as vice president. The appointment re-establishes the full-time position that was founded on campus in 1998. It also ensures the college will continue to focus on its mission and identity as a Catholic institution offering a liberal arts education in the Augustinian tradition. The Augustinian Province of St. Thomas of Villanova will pay for the job. Ordained to the priesthood in 1983, Dlugos has a bachelor's degree from Villanova University, a master's degree from Washington Theological Union and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. Dlugos is a licensed psychologist in New York and a registered psychologist in Ontario, Canada. He was chief executive officer of The South Down Institute in Aurora, Ontario, providing leadership to a residential treatment center for members of religious orders suffering emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders. He completed an internship at the American Psychology Association in the Department of Veterans Affairs Psychology Service at the Edward Hines Jr. Hospital in Illinois, from 1998 to 1999. Dlugos was also an advanced psychology trainee for both the Albany County Mental Health Forensic Team at the Albany County Correctional Facility and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, Counseling for the Laity. He was director of vocations for the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova of the Augustinian order.
