A close brush with the law

By Jim Patten
Staff Writer

HAVERHILL — A thief who apparently knew exactly what he wanted, walked into the CVS/pharmacy at Riversedge Plaza with shopping bags stuffed in his back pocket.

When he left, the bags were filled with $926.71 worth of oral hygiene products, including toothbrushes and whitening strips, police said.

A store official told police the theft was discovered Thursday as workers were restocking the shelves.

The store official told police he reviewed the store security video from Wednesday and it showed a man entering the store with the shopping bags and filling them with the oral care products.

The store official gave police a copy of the video plus developed photographs of the man, which were turned over to the detective division for further investigation.

The theft was reported at 10:29 a.m. Thursday, police said.
