ANDOVER — As work on the Main Street project continues, a meeting is planned to update residents on the summer phase of the road project.

The meeting will be May 28 at Memorial Hall Library, starting at 7 p.m.

The entire $4.5 million, largely state-funded project is expected to take two years. It will add a turn lane in front of Old Town Hall and a pedestrian island in the center of Elm Square. All the sidewalks and crosswalks will be redone as well.

More significant work will continue this week. Test pits, a hole dug to research soil samples, will be dug in several locations this week. The locations include the corner of Barnard and Park streets and the corner of Chestnut and Main streets on the CVS pharmacy side. Sidewalk access won't be affected at these locations.
