May 16, 2008 05:55 am ANDOVER — Planning your first trip abroad? The Andover post office, 10 Stevens St., is trying to make things a little easier for you with its special "Passport Day" tomorrow. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. people can stop by and apply for their passports and have their passport photographs — a one-stop process. Postmaster Michael A. Sullivan said the special hours should make it easier for parents with children applying for passports, since parents must accompany children under 16. He warns that people should apply for passports at least two months before taking a trip if they want to avoid extra costs to expedite an application. To apply, people need to bring evidence of citizenship, two passport photos and a current photo identification. Passport fees can be paid by check or cash. A passport costs $100 for persons 16 and over; $85 for persons under 16, and $75 for passports being renewed. Passport photos cost $15. Also available are the new wallet-size passport card, which provides a less expensive, smaller and more convenient alternative for those who travel frequently by land or by sea between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. These cost a total of $45 for adults and $35 for persons under 16. To save time, passport applications can be downloaded at www.usps.com/passport and completed beforehand, Sullivan said.
