RYE, N.H. — A house just a couple of blocks from the beach was shot at multiple times early this morning, although no injuries have been reported, police said.

Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh said at 3:25 a.m. today, homeowners at 785 Central Road heard shots fired outside their house.

The officer who arrived at the house found bullet casings on the ground and bullet holes in the side of the house. The damage appears to have been caused by bullets going through the house, Walsh said in a press release.

The homeowners, who live there year-round, also told police they could smell gunpowder.

"They are still pretty shaken up," Walsh said.

Walsh said it looks like a drive-by shooting, but could also have been from a person standing outside the house with a gun.

Police are continuing to investigate this morning and will release additional details later today.

Rye, Greenland, North Hampton, and New Hampshire State Police responded.

The Rye Police Department is asking anyone with any information to please call 603- 964-5522 or Portsmouth Crime Line at 431-1199.
