Police raid home of Lawrence School Superintendent Laboy

METHUEN — State police and officers from the Lawrence Police Department raided the Methuen home of Lawrence School Superintendent Wilfredo Laboy tonight.

Lawrence police Chief John Romero confirmed the raid is in conjunction with an ongoing criminal investigation of alleged "financial improprieties" within the Lawrence School Department.

About 10 p.m., two detectives walked out of the house carrying computer equipment and files and put them in cars.

Every light in the house was on, even in the basement. Police could be seen through a large picture window searching the premises and taking photos.

It was not known if Laboy, 58, was home.

Romero declined further comment, referring all questions to the office of District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

Laboy's Lawrence office was raided last Friday night with police confiscating computers and other items.

Laboy has been on stress leave from work for several weeks, but had vowed to be back at his desk this week.
