Georgetown scout to build benches as Eagle Scout project

GEORGETOWN — Daniel Noelk of Troop 51 received approval at a recent School Committee meeting to build two benches at the junior varsity baseball field as his Eagle Scout project.

"I think the benches will benefit all the sports that use the field," Noelk said. "They are going to be on a hill overlooking the field."

Noelk, 16, said that one bench will be behind home plate and the other near a pathway behind the field.

With approval from the committee and Athletic Director Guy Prescott, Noelk is now seeking donations of materials to complete the project.

Noelk's detailed plan shows sturdy benches with stainless steel brackets and wooden seats. "I hope to finish this over the summer," he said.

Noelk still needs approval from his Scoutmaster and from the Yankee Clipper Council.
