The Georgetown Senior Center is at the First Congregational Church on Andover Street.

Information on computer class program July 1: With computers and information technology playing greater roles in our daily lives, volunteer instructor Reginald Tardif will present a program on class opportunities available through SeniorNet Computer Learning Lab today at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. Located off Interstate 495 at Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, the SeniorNet program offers ongoing eight-week classes for older learners on computer basics, e-mail and exploring the Internet. Featuring small class sizes, an eight-week class for SeniorNet members costs $75. Cost for non-SeniorNet students is $115 but includes a one-year membership in SeniorNet. Elder Law Education Program July 8: Thanks to the annual Elder Law Education Program recently presented across the state by volunteer attorneys through the Probate Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Newburyport Attorney Morgot Birke will present an overview of Medicare and Medicaid as well as other financial and legal issues that often face elders on Tuesday July 8, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. To assist with planning for the event, call 978-352-5726.

Local author to speak July 16: The author of several novels and mysteries, Coralie Hughes Jensen of North Andover, will read and discuss her work Wednesday, July 16, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. With books on sale after the presentation, she will also be available to sign her books. Refreshments will be served.

July Birthday Party July 22: Join the Council on Aging for the monthly birthday party on Tuesday, July 22, 11:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Birthday celebrants will receive a free lunch (everyone else is $2) and there is cake and ice cream for all. Lunch reservations are required. Make reservations before July 15 to assist with planning.

Writing Workshop July 29: Join director Colleen Ranshaw-Fiorello Tuesday, July 29, 10 a.m., as you write about your favorite summer pastimes and activities. Register by calling the COA at 978-352-5726.

Ice Cream Social July 30: To help celebrate National Ice Cream Month, join the Council on Aging on Wednesday, July 30, 11:30 a.m., for an Ice Cream Sundae Buffet. The cost is $3, which includes lunch. Reservations are required. Call 978-352-5726 before Wednesday, July 23.

MVRTA program Aug. 13: Following a scheduling conflict in June, representatives from the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority will present an informational program on the Ring and Ride curb-to-curb transportation program Wednesday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Offered through the MVRTA, the shared ride service is available without charge to Georgetown residents and allows residents to commute within Georgetown as well as to Haverhill, Lawrence General Hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport and the Rowley Commuter Rail Station.
