Summer Adventures at the Merrimac library

MERRIMAC — "Wild Reads" Summer Reading Program is underway for toddlers to teens. Prizes, raffles and reading adventures await participants. Sign up and get details in the children's and Young Adult rooms at the library.

July 8: 10:30 a.m., Jungle Encounters Wild Animal Show. Learn about and even pet some beautiful and unique wild animals at this interactive wildlife program. Sponsored by the Friends of the Merrimac Library. Ages 5 and up.

July 10: 6 p.m., Keith M. Johnson presents "Wild About Weather." Keith combines science and comedy for a show that is jam-packed with funny demonstrations and audience participation. Experiments include air cannons, tornado generators and hot air balloons. Sponsored by the Merrimac Cultural Council. Ages 5 and up.

July 15: 10:30 a.m., "ClassiGals — Classical Songs for Kids." Introduces children to the world of classical music with puppets and audience participation. Sponsored by the Merrimac Cultural Council. Ages 5 and up.

July 16: 11 a.m., Toddler Story Time. Wild animal stories, songs and crafts. Ages: 2 to 4. Younger siblings welcome, too.

July 22: 10:30 a.m., Martha Dana's Puppets. Listen as Martha tells stories with help from her life-sized puppets. Sponsored by Friends of the Merrimac Library. All ages welcome.

July 24: 6 p.m., David Hyde Costello presents "The Author's Sketchbook." David will lead the audience in a brainstorming session to create a new story. He'll draw the illustrations as the kids make up the plot line. Sponsored by the Merrimac Library. Ages 5 and up.

July 29: 11 a.m., "Safari Story Hour." A Safari Adventure with stories, songs and crafts. Ages 4 and up.

Aug. 5: 10:30 a.m., K-9 demonstration with officer Tom Nichols from Amesbury police. All ages welcome.

Aug. 6: 11 a.m., "Toddler Summer Beach Blast Story Time." Summer fun with stories, games, songs and crafts. Ages 2 to 4. Younger siblings welcome, too.

Aug. 7: 7 p.m., Mountain Mushers Hero Sled Dog Team. You'll hear about the real-life adventures of Pixie, Sorrel and Su, sled dogs in the Danali National Park in Alaska. See their equipment and pet these remarkable animals. Sponsored by the Merrimac Library. All ages welcome.
