Methuen fire engine responding to rollover strikes car

By J.J. Huggins
Staff writer

METHUEN — A fire engine responding to a rollover tore part of the bumper off a car yesterday afternoon, police said.

Engine 5 was responding to a crash near Marston Corner — the intersection of Jackson Street, Howe Street, Pleasant Valley Street and Pleasant Street — when it struck a 1994 Nissan Altima and ripped off part of the car's bumper near the intersection.

The driver of the Altima had pulled over to let the engine by, and traffic was heavy. Nobody was hurt in that collision, and the fire engine was not damaged, police said.

There were no serious injuries in the rollover, said Lt. Greg Gallant.
