LAWRENCE — Eleven local agencies working with families and children received diapers from Communities Together last week.

The diapers and children's underwear were collected during Lent by supporting churches in Andover, North Andover, Lawrence and Methuen.

Out of the 16,000 items collected, 13,000 were diapers, said Dave Edwards, Communities Together executive director.

Social service agencies receiving donations were Lazarus House, Bread and Roses, Neighbors in Need, Si Se Puede, YWCA, Family Services, Inc., Hancock Courts and Centro de Adoracion Jesucristo es el Senor, all of Lawrence; Women's Resource Center at YWCA, Emmaus House and the Pregnancy Care Center, all of Haverhill.

"This is the most rewarding thing we do because it helps so many children," Edwards said.
