Formerly the site of Friendly's in downtown Methuen, the prior building was replaced by a 3,600-square-foot commercial bank, with two drive-up windows and ample parking. CEO Jack Clancy and branch manager Cheryl Parent welcomed several hundred guests that toured the new building. Mayor Manzi officially cut the ribbon on behalf of the city of Methuen. The full-service branch offers the same complete banking services, mortgages, consumer loans, and a full-service ATM, seven days a week as the old location, plus Service Credit Union also provides online and mobile banking. Another existing branch location in Salem, N.H., is located within the Wal-Mart store at 300 North Broadway. Berry & Son Inc., a leading New England construction management company. A graduate of West Point, Rollins has worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and has considerable experience working with green building design guidelines. nnn John Murphy recently joined the Reading Co-operative Bank as senior vice president and newly appointed director of business development. Prior to joining Reading Co-operative Bank, Murphy was president and chief executive officer of the Everett Credit Union, where he was responsible for business planning and policies, financial operations, marketing, and the effective delivery of all banking services. Murphy previously served as the first vice president of the Federal Home Bank of Boston, responsible for that bank's operational activities. nnn Awards for Excellence in Community Development were presented at Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation's 17th annual meeting and awards ceremony. Bridget Shaheen, executive director, and Charles Miller, chairman of the board, of Lazarus House Ministries, received an award for their organization's "dedication to fighting poverty in Lawrence and for helping the city's most vulnerable families achieve lasting economic self-sufficiency." The organization was also honored for its development of Capernaum Place, a new, 20-unit building that provides housing for very low income families. Lazarus House Ministries is a nondenominational faith-based organization that has been providing services such as temporary shelter, meals programs, food pantries, job training and counseling to the homeless population for more than twenty years. Lazarus House uses some of the space at Capernaum Place to provide services for residents of the project as well as the immediate neighborhood. nnn Jonathan Ring, PE, president, Brad Jones, Wayne Morrill, and Joseph Coronati, of Jones & Beach Engineers Inc., have recently purchased RSL Layout & Design, a land survey company located in Raymond, N.H. Together with their current offices in Stratham and Alton, N.H., this acquisition will allow broader survey capabilities, provide expansion of the company's geographic base, and add talented new staff members to their team. Richie Ladd, a licensed land surveyor and founder of RSL, will continue to work with the company. The 25-person firm provides professional Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Design and Permitting, and Construction Inspection and Supervision Services to a broad variety of clients ranging from municipalities, to private developers with commercial and residential projects, to institutions, such as St. Michael Parish and the hospital in Exeter, N.H. nnn The Mass General Hospital Cancer Center hosted its first fundraising gala, "The One Hundred," on June 5, at the Westin Copley Place. One hundred carefully selected individuals, researchers, physicians, caregivers, volunteers, patients and philanthropists were honored for their significant contributions in the mission of advancing the fight against cancer. Over 600 guests helped to raise over $500,000. Pictured are North Andover residents Eric Ryan and Stefanie Sordillo-Ryan.
