LAWRENCE — Police yesterday arrested a Lawrence man being sought by Lowell detectives in connection with an early morning shooting in that city.

Jeffrey Rosa, 24, of 146 Margin St., was charged with assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Lawrence police Sgt. Joseph Beaulieu said he received a phone call from Lowell seeking assistance in locating Rosa, who had been identified by two witnesses as the shooter in a 2:23 a.m. incident. Beaulieu and several other officers arrested Rosa at his home yesterday afternoon without incident. After being booked at the Lawrence Police Station, he was turned over to Lowell detectives.

Witnesses told police that Rosa fired a shot at a Lowell man following an argument. The bullet missed the man, but shattered the rear driver-side passenger window. Nobody was injured in the shooting.
