Senior picnic today

METHUEN — Today will be a day of fun, friendship and food at the Senior Activity Center.

Between 12:30 to 3 p.m., there will be fried chicken, music and an island-themed hat contest, which you join by creating and wearing an island hat. The best hat wins a prize.

Attendance is restricted to Methuen seniors.

Tickets are $6 and available at the Senior Activity Center at 77 Lowell St. For more information, call 978-983-8825.

Light synchronization, condos on agenda

NORTH ANDOVER — The Planning Board will meet tonight after canceling a meeting earlier this month.

Among the items board members will discuss are: a site plan modification for the age 55 and over condominiums proposed at Boston Hill; synchronizing the traffic lights on Route 114; and reconstitution of the town's wireless bylaw committee.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. in the selectmen's meeting room at Town Hall, 120 Main St.

The meeting will be televised live on the town's government cable channel, Channel 8.

Bilingual information available for Lawrence voters

LAWRENCE — City residents have until Aug. 27 to register for the Sept. 16 state primary.

Bilingual voting information is available at City Hall and will also be provided at polling locations throughout the city on primary day.

Absentee ballots are also available from the Election Division at City Hall. Individuals voting by absentee ballot can vote in the election office until noon Sept. 3.

Summer concert series concludes tomorrow

ANDOVER — The last outdoor concert of the summer will be held tomorrow at The Park on Bartlet Street.

Classical and jazz group Quintessential Brass is the seventh and final group scheduled to play downtown Andover under the bandstand this year. The two-hour concert starts at 6 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be held Aug. 21.

Consecutive rain dates will move the concert inside to Memorial Auditorium.
