HAVERHILL — A threat of rain limited attendance at Saturday's third annual Haverhill Rocks, held at Winnekenni Castle, to around 1,000 people of all ages. Last year's event drew an estimated 1,500 people and featured guest star American Idol Elliot Yamin.

First up on Saturday was Furious George, followed by Elyson. By the time the third band, The Derelicts, completed its set, the sky darkened and the rain came down in buckets.

"They let us move inside the castle," said Christine McCarron, Haverhill Rocks event organizer. "It stopped raining after an hour, but we had already moved hundreds of pounds of musical gear indoors."

The remaining acts, Hysteria, Project 57, Mongrel, Tripmynd and guest star Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson got to perform in a crowded castle.

Project 57 won the Battle of the Bands competition and walked away with a $1,000 check donated by Trinity EMS, and a music video recording session donated by ABE Multimedia of Haverhill.
