ANDOVER — Thieves used the cover of darkness to rifle through a dozen cars and enter two homes, all of which were unlocked, Lt. James Hashem said.

The thefts occurred on Pleasant and Bailey streets and on Old School House, Ashford and Langley lanes, all on the west side of town, he said.

Golf clubs, laptop computers, iPods, money and cell phones were among the items stolen.

"We are processing the numerous scenes we have now. We have no concrete leads or suspects," he said.

Police are urging anyone who may have knowledge of the thefts to call them at 978-475-0411. Residents also are asked to lock their cars and homes and "do not use your car for storage of valuable items," said Hashem.
