'James and the Giant Peach' comes to Plaistow

PLAISTOW — Tickets go on sale Friday for a performance of "James and the Giant Peach" for the hearing impaired at the Timberlane Performing Arts Center.

Sign language will be used by actors with the Sign Stage Theatre Company to tell the story.

Tickets are $10 each, or $8 for groups of 10 or more. To purchase tickets, call 603-382-6541, ext. 243, or go online to www.timberlanepac.org.

Senior center trip scheduled for Foxwoods

PLAISTOW — The Vic Geary Senior Center is sponsoring a bus trip to Foxwoods Casino on Monday. The bus will leave the Greenough Road center at 7 a.m. and leave the casino to return at 4:30 p.m.

The ride is $32, and includes bingo games on the way, a movie with snacks on the way home, two $10 keno tickets, and a $10 food or buffet coupon.

Environmental, housing programs slated

HAMPSTEAD — Residents are encouraged to attend the following meetings:

A Shoreland Protection Act informational meeting at the Hampstead Library on Sept. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; a state Department of Environmental Services program on shoreline protection guidelines at the agency's office in Concord on Oct. 25; and a workshop on affordable housing at Sandown Town Hall on Oct. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. The affordable housing workshop is conducted by the Rockingham Regional Planning Commission.
