Convicted drug dealer faces deportation

LAWRENCE — A city man faces deportation following his conviction for heroin trafficking.

Juan Deleon, 32, of 16 Wendell St., who also uses the name Jose Almonte, pleaded guilty yesterday in Lawrence District Court. He is being held in Middleton jail while he awaits deportation proceedings.

Deleon managed to elude authorities for more than eight months following a raid on his apartment in July 2006 by Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit detectives, who seized 25 grams of heroin and $500 cash, police reports say.

Deleon was arrested in March 2007, and served 550 days in jail before he was tried. He was sentenced to the time already served. Authorities seek to return him to the Dominican Republic.

Two arrested: Glenda Sanchez, 29, 91 Evergreen Drive, Haverhill, and Cathy Suarez, 32, 10 Bourque St., Haverhill, uttering a false prescription, unlawfully obtaining a controlled substance, false name to a police officer, 110 Turnpike St., 9:57 p.m.

Andover

Suspicious activity: Nutmeg Lane, report of someone attempting to break into a house, officer reports it was the son who is having difficulty sleeping, 2:36 a.m.

Accident: Lowell Street, three cars, no injuries, 7:43 a.m.

Car break: Starr Avenue, 8:30 a.m.

Car break: Fairfax Drive, purse missing, 9:56 a.m.

Lawrence

Arrest: Jose Cedeno, 37, 349 Jackson St., larceny over $250, trespassing, 1 General St., 2:38 a.m.

Three arrested: Michael Crochetiere, 26, 11 Spring St., Kevin Coppola, 45, Chelmsford, and Paul Rebinskas, 70, 17 Tewksbury St., trespassing, 16 Tewksbury St., 10:30 a.m.

Two arrested: Gerzin Hernandez, 21, Roxbury, and Fermin Galdamez, 25, Boston, trespassing, attempted larceny, 26 International Way, 11:30 a.m.

Arrest: Christina Beltre, 21, 81 Avon St., two counts of malicious damage to property over $250, two counts assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Avon and Fitz streets, 10 p.m.
