LAWRENCE — Someone forced open the side entrance door of a Howard Street house and took a laptop computer and other property, police said.

The victim told Officer Kevin Schiavone she noticed the door was open when she returned home at 11:49 a.m. Monday.

She told police a shade in the entryway was pulled down to block neighbors from looking in.

She told police she leaves the shade up because neighbors watch her house when she is away and they can see anyone who might enter the side entry area.

In addition to the Compaq Presario laptop computer, a Hewlett-Packard hard drive, and 15 assorted music and computer CDs also were stolen.

A steel drawer in a table in the entryway had been opened, and police took the drawer to fingerprint it.
